On Moving Day

• Carry travelers checks for quick, available funds
• Let friend know schedule and route you will travel including stops
• Use friend as message headquarters
• Double check closets, drawers, shelves to be sure they are empty
• Carry currency, jewelry, documents yourself
• Plan for transporting pets

Double check these areas

• Empty freezer and plan use of foods
• Have appliances serviced before moving
• Call cable company and\or leave remote & equipment
• Clean rugs or clothing before moving
• Check insurance coverage, packing/unpacking labor and arrival day
• Check various shipping papers, method and time of payment
• Plan for special care needs of infants and pets

Send change of address to

• Utility companies: gas, light, water, telephone, etc
• Route men: laundry, paper boy, changeover of services
• School records: ask for copies of transfer of children’s records
• Medical, dental, Prescription histories: ask for referrals
• Church, club, Civic organizations: transfer memberships
• Post Office: give forwarding address
• Store & Credit facilities: charge accounts, credit cards
• Subscriptions: notices might require several weeks
• Friends & Relatives: notify of travel route and plans
• Bank: transfer funds, arrange check cashing in new city, area
• Insurance: life, health,fire, auto coverage in new area
